Our History

Wood Stack, California

Established in 1988

Our town's humble beginnings

Wood Stack was never planned to be a permanent settlement. Our lovely little community had unassuming foundations as a logging operation. As more of the space was opened up by the business, it was discovered that this was a fine place for a town. Remains of a small settlement were found in the area, indicating that others had lived in the region some time beforehand. In honor of the community's humble beginnings, at the first town meeting it was dubbed Wood Stack.

Population grows!

Our little neck of the woods soon became a fast-growing settlement where people from all over came to call home. Wood Stack became one of the fastest-growing communities in the country, with the percent of increase peaking in 2002. Wood Stack had it's record in 2006 when 418 citizens were added to the town registry.

But what is it like today?

Though the town has come a long way from its modest origins and grown so much, it never lost that sense of community. From the people running the numerous small businesses, little shops, and hotels, all the way to those who serve, you'll find that Wood Stack feels like one big, happy family.
